1940s Slingerland Rolling Bomber Snare

As mentioned in a previous post, WWII metal quotas meant that drum makers had to design drums with no more than 10% or so metal content. This spurred some beautiful creativity, and the drums of this period are some of the coolest works of art in the world of vintage percussion. Slingerland’s Rolling Bomber drums are often considered the most aesthetically pleasing of this era, and this snare, while pretty banged up, clearly demonstrates why.
